Chris Rock's Divorce gets Messy, Wife Demands Half of His $70m Empire

Chris Rock has filled for a divorce from his wife Malaak Compton, and she is demanding a large chunk of his $70m fortune. The couple have been married for 20 years and have 2 daughters. The actor filed for divorce in December 2014 amid rumours he was dating actress Rosario Dawson, who
co-starred with him in Top Five, which he also directed. Malaak Compton signed a pre nup when she married Chris in 1996 but insists their prenup had expired after 20 years.


Chris and Malaak married in 1996 after the pair met at the Essence Awards. Malaak was working in public relations, though court papers say she gave up her career to be a full-time mom caring for the couple's children - 13-year-old Lola Simone and 11-year-old Zahra Savannah. Chris complains that his ex is preventing him from seeing his daughters. He asked for shared legal and physical custody of the girls.
