Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, today returned from the trip he made with President Muhammadu Buhari to South Africa with the disclosure that he had the opportunity to discuss the challenges of the state.
Governor Ortom who arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at five thirty this morning listed their areas of discussion to include incessant clashes between herders and farmers, bailout from debt burden, especially arrears of salaries, allowances and retirement benefits, as well as ministerial and other appointments.
According to the Governor, the President indicated a favourable disposition to all the issues raised and promised further engagement.
He expressed appreciation to the Presidency for what he described as the special privilege accorded him on behalf of the people of the state to accompany President Buhari on one of his first major international visits after his inauguration.
Governor Ortom and his Ogun State counterpart, Governor Ibikunle Amosun had accompanied President Buhari, at his invitation, to the meeting of the African Union in South Africa last weekend.
