Ortom Condemns Attack on Logo Community By Fulani Herdsmen - Tahav Agerzua

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has condemned yesterday's attack on Tse-Ikpur community in Logo local government area by suspected Fulani herdsmen resulting into killings and destruction of property.
He described the attack which is the most recent in a series as savage and unacceptable.

Governor Ortom who directed security agencies to take urgent steps to stop further attacks on communities in the state said his administration would not tolerate acts of violence against the people.

He said measures are being put in place to curb the activities of criminals be they among herders or farmers and requested the police to tract and arrest those responsible for yesterday's attack for prosecution.

According to him the security of lives and property in the state, particularly the resolution of the incessant herders and farmers conflict, formed a major part of his discussion with President Muhammadu Buhari when they traveled to South Africa last weekend and that it remained a priority of his administration.

He noted that while ranches remained a permanent solution to the conflict, dialogue between the concerned parties and legal means of addressing grievances must be encouraged rather than the current resort to self help.

The Governor sympathized with families who lost loved ones and prayed for the repose of their souls.
