Ahmed Lawan/George Akume emerge as Senate President/Deputy at APC mock elections

At a mock elections held by the  All Progressive Congress (APC) for Senate Presidency, Senator Ahmed Lawan of Yobe State, has emerged as preferred candidate, while Senator George Akume of Benue State emerged as deputy speaker. However, a group of Senators in support of Senator Saraki of Kwara state boycotted the mock elections.
The Saraki’s group had on Sunday afternoon signed an agreement with the Lawan’s group to abide by the outcome of the election. The Saraki group reportedly failed to secure a request to postpone the election.
